Swallow Falls State Park
Swallow Falls State Park has 257 acres and is located just around the corner from the Inn. The
Youghiogheny River is situated between the Park and the Inn and is one of the most visited sites in
Garrett County. The Park has three waterfalls: Muddy Creek Falls, which is the largest in the State of
Maryland with a 63 foot drop; Swallow Falls, has large sloping falls; and Toliver Falls, which is the
smallest of the falls. The Park is visited year round and has cross-country ski trails, fishing and hunting.

Herrington Manor State Park
Herrington Manor State Park is located about 3 miles from the Inn...Just make a right when exiting our
parking lot and look for the sign. The Park has a large picnic area, beach and a unique tranquil lake. In
addition, they have a paddleboats and canoes for rent. Fees charged.
Garrett State Forest
Garrett Forest encompasses both state parks and has tons of trails with its 6,781 acres.
Deep Creek Lake State Park
Deep Creek Lake State Park is located on Deep Creek Lake and is about 10 miles from the Inn. Just
make a left when exiting the Inn, go to the stop sign and make a left, at the intersection of bear right,
make a left on 219, make a right across from McDonalds, after crossing the bridge, make a left and
follow signs. There is a beach, fishing, boating, boat ramps and picnic area and playground. They also
have a Discovery Center with nature items for the kids. Fees charged.
Garrett County Fairgrounds
The fairgrounds are located 11 miles from the inn. Just make a left when exiting the Inn, go to the stop
sign and make a left, at the intersection of bear right, make a left on 219. The fairgrounds are on the
other side of the bridge on the right. Many events take place at the fairgrounds throughout the year.
Town of Oakland
The Town of Oakland is 7 miles from the Inn. Make a right when leaving the parking lot and go straight
into town. As you enter town, on the right is the Oakland Train Station, which was renovated and
rededicated on October 7, 2000. The Historical Society and the Town Council have been busy
renovating the town to give it an "old town scenic and rustic look" from the past.
